The basics
What is FlexiLink?
FlexiLink is a browser picker and link router for Windows 10 and 11. You set it as your default browser, and web links you click in other apps go to FlexiLink first. It then opens the link in the browser and profile you want – automatically if one of your rules matches, or after you pick one in a small window.
Is FlexiLink a web browser?
No. FlexiLink doesn’t show web pages. It only decides which of your real browsers – Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave and so on – opens each link, and hands the link over.
Which browsers does FlexiLink support?
Every browser that is registered in Windows, including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Brave, Vivaldi and Opera. You can also add any other program as a custom browser with its own command line.
Can FlexiLink open links in a specific Chrome, Edge or Firefox profile?
Yes. FlexiLink lists the profiles of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Firefox separately, each with its own picture. Rules and the picker can target a profile, not just a browser.
Is there a macOS or Linux version?
No. FlexiLink is made for Windows only, and uses Windows’ own interface and default-browser system.
Using FlexiLink
Can links open in a private or incognito window?
Yes. Hold Ctrl when you pick a browser in the picker or Quick Access, or tick Private mode on a rule so a site always opens privately. FlexiLink uses InPrivate for Edge, Incognito for Chrome-based browsers and Private Browsing for Firefox.
Does FlexiLink work with links from Outlook, Teams, Slack or PDF files?
Yes. FlexiLink works with apps that open web links through the Windows default browser – which most desktop apps do, including Outlook, Teams, Slack, Discord, Word and PDF readers.
How do I make FlexiLink my default browser?
Open FlexiLink Settings and click Make default. Windows opens its Default apps page showing FlexiLink – click Set default there. Windows requires this confirmation; no app is allowed to change the default browser silently.
Can a rule depend on the app I click the link in?
Yes. Set the rule’s Source process to the app, like thunderbird.exe – case and the .exe don’t matter. To send every link from that app to one browser, use the URL wildcard match type with the pattern *.
Why don’t my rules work for links from Outlook?
Outlook’s Safe Links wraps every link in its own address (…safelinks.protection.outlook.com), so rules see Microsoft’s site instead of yours. Turn on Unwrap links on FlexiLink’s Settings page (the gear at the bottom left): FlexiLink then finds the real address before matching rules, and still opens the original link so Safe Links can check it.
How do I open one link somewhere else, just once?
Hold Shift while you click the link. FlexiLink skips your rules and shows the picker, so you can choose any browser for that one link. Because you’re holding a key, Windows may show the picker as a flashing FlexiLink button on the taskbar instead of on top of your windows – click it to open the picker. Windows doesn’t let new windows jump in front of you while you’re using the keyboard, and FlexiLink respects that instead of working around it.
What happens to links that don’t match any rule?
FlexiLink shows the picker, so you choose where the link opens. You can tick “Always open this site in the selected browser” to turn your choice into a rule.
Which links does FlexiLink handle?
FlexiLink routes standard HTTP and HTTPS links that Windows sends to your default browser. It doesn’t see mailto: or other app-specific links (like a Zoom or Teams meeting link that opens its app), links opened inside apps with their own built-in browser, apps that open a particular browser directly, or links you click inside a browser. Those keep working as before.
Installing and privacy
Do I need administrator rights to install FlexiLink?
No. FlexiLink installs for your Windows user account only, in your AppData folder. Some organisations block per-user installers, changing the default browser, apps that start with Windows, or installing the Windows App Runtime – on such PCs, ask your IT department.
Which versions of Windows are supported?
Windows 10 version 1809 or later and Windows 11, on 64-bit (x64) PCs. FlexiLink needs the Microsoft Windows App SDK Runtime, which the setup installs automatically if it’s missing.
Does FlexiLink collect my data or browsing history?
No. FlexiLink never sends the links you open anywhere, and it has no analytics. It goes online only for a daily update check, which you can turn off on FlexiLink’s Settings page, and to activate and verify your license. The privacy policy has the details.
What happens if I uninstall FlexiLink?
FlexiLink removes its files, its browser registration and its start-with-Windows entry. If it is still your default browser, it opens Windows Settings on the browser you used before, so you can make that the default again with one click. Your settings file stays in %LOCALAPPDATA%\FlexiLink unless you delete it.
Pricing and licensing
How much does FlexiLink cost?
FlexiLink costs $19 per PC, paid once – there is no subscription. Packs are cheaper: 3 licenses for $39.90 (30% off) and 5 licenses for $47.50 (50% off). You can try every feature free for 30 days before buying.
Do I need a separate license for each PC?
Yes. A license is activated on one computer and works only on that computer. If you use FlexiLink at home and at work, you need two licenses – packs of 3 and 5 licenses make that 30% and 50% cheaper.
Can I move my license to a new PC?
Yes. Enter your license key on the new PC (FlexiLink Settings › About, the ? at the bottom left) and the license moves there; the old PC stops using it. You can move each license once every 90 days. Reinstalling or resetting Windows counts as a new PC – if you need to move a license sooner, email support@flexilink.app.
What happens when the trial ends?
Nothing breaks: every link still opens. Your first active rule keeps working, and the rest wait – links they would have handled go through the picker, which tells you which rule matched. Your rules and settings are kept, and entering a license key on the About page turns all of them back on at once.
Is there a free version?
The full version is free to try for 30 days, with no feature limits and no sign-up. After that, links still open, but only your first rule works automatically – every other link goes through the picker until you enter a license key on the About page (the ? at the bottom left of FlexiLink Settings).
Still deciding? Try it on your own links
Free for 30 days, every feature included. If you like it, a license is $19 per PC (excl. VAT) – once, not every month.
